Coach and Equipment First Review of Weight Analysis Program

January 22, 2020

Today DSD Web Works presented a functional weight analysis prototype for review to administrative and engineering personnel of Coach and Equipment. DSD Web Works was charged with designing and developing an online tool that would allow individuals to dynamically create bus configuration layouts and in real-time analyze weight distribution within a given configuration.

The presented interface included a dynamic graphical interface of the bus floor-plan layout and location of all option / option value selections that makeup the design of the bus. Each individual entity has a weight and appropriate x and y coordiante that allows for potential placement within the floor-plan layout and the associated weight distribution of that particular placement. Using a simple two-dimensional grid that easily converts from inches to pixels allows for the salesman or engineer to be assured of a properly configured bus. Reporting consists of specific location of all options within the bus and the weights on all four corners (front-right, front-left, rear-right, rear-left), weight on the front axle, weight on the rear axle and the overall weight of the vehicle. The coding for the live interactive reporting of all these weights is such that it is executed across the entire bus configuration (every single item with weight) in approximately 1/1000 of a sec.

All present were impressed with the prototype presentation and look forward to the production version of the web based weight analysis interface which will seamlessly integrate with the custom designed sales configurator previously developed by DSD Web Works.

Keuka Lake Data Logger Security Upgrade

January 27, 2020

Today DSD Web Works assisted in the added security for the Keuka Lake data logger's configuration. The upstream addition of a secure router that employs both a firewall and port forwarding will assure non-authorized access to the logging device.

The device, a Sutron 8310, has been integral in supplying residence, town and village officials with accurate data on the lake including lake level and lake temperature. The recordings and various reporting tools created by DSD Web Works for Keuka Lake Association are instrumental in determining appropriate gate settings (the discharge of water) as determined by the Keuka Lake Outlet Compact (KLOC) who is charged with managing lake level. The water level readings are taken at the Penn Yan Water Plant, and updated every two hours on the KLA's website and displayed on informative graphs that include guide curves. DSD Web Works is encouraged by the proactive stance of making the overall configuration within the Penn Yan Water Plant in regard to collecting this valuable data more secure thus preventing any possible disruption of data collection and reporting.

Coach & Equipment Review new Wt. Analysis Application

February 10, 2020

Today DSD Web Works presented a working prototype of the weight analysis application they were charged to design and develop. The web based application allows for the proper weight distribution on a given bus chassis. All options that are selected are analyzed in a coordinated fashion and mathematical models are used to determine the weight distribution on each axle, wheel and overall structure. The interface designed is intuitive, flexible (allowing drag and drop, nudging, etc.) and fast! Speeds for the analysis were reduced substantially (minutes to milliseconds) from the legacy program currently used.

Engineers will now have time to test and expand the new applications capabilities.
