Author Marn Baly Blog Released

Marn Baly, who is presently on location in Hawaii continuing her research on her latest project, released her new blog today. DSD Web Works designed the blog to be representative of the author using an appropriate clean layout and color palate reflective of her style of writing. She is very pleased with the look, layout and ease of use and, most importantly, her followers have a wonderful way to interact with the author.

Goolgle Site Search Incorporated into Coach and Equipment Bus Sales

Today DSD Web Works released a parts search functionality to Coach and Equipment Bus Parts sales. The thousands of parts present in the bus part inventory offered by Coach and Equipment are now completely indexed and easily searched via a custom script created using Google's API. The custom search interface and results layout were incorporated seamlessly with the current site look and feel. Another element adding to the user experience and making Coach and Equipment a leader in supplying Bus Parts nation wide.

Beverly Wells Website Released

Barrington Cellars Contracts DSD Web Works

February 2, 2012

Barrington Cellars, a Finger Lakes Winery located above Keuka Lake, contracted DSD Web Works to custom design and develop a number of new features for the wineries website.

A number of enhanced features will be added that will allow for more flexible control over content by winery staff. In addition, a custom dynamic script will be created allowing for better communications with many of the wineries clients that purchase from New York City's Green Market. This will include a dynamically controlled market schedule and inventory availability.

DSD Web Works looks forward to working with Barrington Cellars on creating a solution that will make their lives easier, their customers happier and the winery more successful.

Skooba Design - RBJ Best of the Web Awards Finalist

It was just announced that Skooba Design, a laptop bag manufacture, is one of three finalist in Rochester Business Journal (RBJ) Best of the Web Awards. Every year the RBJ recognizes Rochester's best business websites and to have Skooba Design be in the mix is great news. DSD Web Works is honored to be part of the Skooba family. DSD Web Works has been working with Skooba Design since 2008, and it is wonderful for everyone's hard work to be recognized in this fashion.

Coach and Equipment Releases New Bus Parts Sales Site

Today Coach and Equipment released their new Bus Parts Sales site. The site, designed and developed by DSD Web Works, integrates a unique navigation and parts display utilizing a custom algorithm that calculates the most popular bus part categories, sub-categories and parts. This allows for a cleaner, more simple presentation that allows users to quickly locate and purchase the bus parts they are specifically looking for.

In addition, the site includes a very sophisticated site search that also helps with the user experience. That was the challenge with this particular design, displaying tens of thousands of parts without creating an overwhelming menu for the user. Jim McMullen, CEO Coach and Equipment, described it as a "high quality, profession looking web site that we call can be proud of".

It was a complete joy working with the entire Coach team and the end product is indeed something that we can all be proud of.

Coach and Equipment Contracts DSD Web Works for Quickbooks API

Today, DSD Web Works began the creation of a SOAP Server API to integrate the company's successful Bus Parts eCommerce website with the enterprise version of QuickBooks. We will be creating scripts for bidirectional communication between the website application and QuickBooks. This will include Customer information, invoicing and inventory. The proposed design will create seamless synchronization across all databases involved.

Googlebot Getting Smarter (and better).

During yesterdays panel discussion (Dear Google & Bing: Help Me Rank Better!) at South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference Matt Cutts, head of Google's Web Spam team, announced that new releases of their algorithm will specifically address over optimized sites. The new changes, to be in play within the next several weeks, will penalize sites who are "over optimized or overly SEO".

As Google continues to better engineer 'relevancy', which is always been the ultimate goal, they will "level the playing field" a bit between intentionally optimized sites and those with sites with "just great content". He specifically cited optimization characteristics such as exaggerated keyword density or excessive link exchanges.

DSD Web Works Creates Application for Hitachi Metals America

Today Hitachi Metals America, Ltd. (HMA) released a custom web application created by DSD Web Works to manage the distribution and verification of the corporations Email Security policy. The Hitachi policy is a proactive step insuring the security of their vast intranet structure.

The application specifically addressed the need to verify receipt of the security brief and acknowledgement and understanding of the policy among the thousands of HMA employees that are geographically distributed across six manufacturing subsidiaries, multiple sales offices, R&D facilities and corporate headquarters.

DSD Web Works Delivers Web Site Order to QuickBooks Integration Application

Today DSD Web Works delivered and demonstrated a unique custom web application that allows Coach and Equipment to selectively import invoices generated on their active Parts web site into QuickBooks. The application uses asynchronous technology to easily identify, select and import all relevant invoice data directly into the company's QuickBook application by simple click of a button. Once again, we offered a simple, clean interface to allow for simple and seamless integration of a complex serious of steps.

The efficiency and accuracy gained from the custom application will have immediate cost savings benefits.

'Hands-On' Training for Cornell University's New CMS Web Application

April 2, 2012

Cornell Vegetable Program and the Capital District Vegetable & Small Fruit Program received hands-on training for their recently completed custom built content management system (CMS).

A group of fourteen administrators and specialists meet today at the Genesee Grande Hotel Conference facility in Syracuse, NY to interact directly with the newly completed back-end admin interface that allows for complete control over the soon to be released redesigned web sites. The meeting began with D. Scott Demmin, DSD Web Works, presenting an overview of the new site layout and structure and an explanation on the relationship between the backend database and the 'live' management of the front-end. A walk through of the administrative interface was followed by a hands-on workshop where all parties directly interacted with the custom application. Multiple submissions by specialists were added and a number of events were created.

Simplicity of associating content with topics and/or crops was most appreciated and the enthusiasm for the new site was quite evident. All look forward to the release of the sites for public view and enjoyment.

Today DSD Web Works began a consultation role in updating the software and hardware for recording and reporting lake level data for Keuka Lake.

Efforts to determine what is required for the most efficient and accurate reporting of lake level is critical because the data is instrumental in the proper management of the lake level by manipulating the five control gates located in Penn Yan. We look forward to offering our expertise.

Coach and Equipment Expands Contract with DSD Web Works

With the overwhelming success of the new Parts Sales web site, Coach and Equipment has expanded their contract with DSD Web Works. The new request includes restructuring the logistics of their current parts purchasing, receivables and inventory. A strategy to more efficiently manage all accounting roles will be defined and implemented. Custom web applications will be created to share all functionality between a new QuickBooks company and the current web site. Standardization of procedures will be employed and complete live inventory control will be integrated.

Cornell Vegetable Program Releases New Site

Cornell University's Cornell Vegetable Program, one of the premier regional agricultural Cornell Cooperative Extension programs in New York, has launched a redesigned web site with both a new look and feel and a substantially improved user interface. The site features a logical layout for better navigation and a unique scrolling crop menu.

The entire site is easily managed by a custom built content management system (CMS). The administrative interface allows for multiple individuals within multiple admin levels to create and modify content such as submissions (Abstracts, Trials, etc.), events and announcements. Integration of online payment for enrollment, event registration and sponsorships was also integrated.

DSD Web Works thoroughly enjoyed the collaborative effort between all Cornell team members and DSD Web Works' designers and developers.

Cornell University Regional Programs Requests Quote

Today Cornell University representatives requested a quote to develop custom content management systems (CMS) and web site designs for seven regional programs. Interest in DSD Web Works resulted from the highly praised release of the new Cornell Vegetable Program web site that is fully managed by a custom CMS application that DSD Web Works recently developed.

Expectations for the Cornell Vegetable Program project were "seriously acceded" and as a result, Cornell University is very interested in extending more contracts to DSD Web Works. "Having the confidence that the process of development will be an enjoyable experience and result in acceding all expectation makes DSD Web Works an easy choice".

New Custom CMS for Barrington Cellars

DSD Web Works has completed work and released a totally new and custom built Content Management System (CMS) for Barrington Cellars. The system allows for authorized staff to easily manage all site content in house thus saving time and money. Several enchantments were made to allow for better communication to their geographically diverse customers. The seamless integration to the front end makes it a joy to modify all relevant content.

Coach & Equipment Fully Integrates Web Site Sales with QuickBooks

Coach & Equipment has a very active bus part sales component within their website. Today, DSD Web Works fully integrated the invoicing within the Part Sales site to the latest enterprise version of QuickBooks. The system now allows for invoices to be systematically and automatically downloaded from the site directly into QuickBooks. The company's controller is 'seriously pleased'.

Cornell Regional Programs Receive Presentation on Custom CMS

Presentations today by DSD Web Works were given to Cornell University's Finger Lake Grape Growers and to the Lake Erie Regional Program. The Lake Erie program is a cooperative effort between Penn State University and Cornell University. Both programs were presented visual mock-ups and wireframes that were approved. The concepts will now be designed and their new custom Content Management System will be developed.

Hitachi Metals America Adds Mass Flow Controllers Line

Today Hitachi Metals America (HMA) released their new lines of Mass Flow Controllers and Flow products. DSD Web Works was contracted to create the digital presentation of the new line which includes an array of products organized within nine product series. HMA has contributed to the development of the high-technology industry by commercializing high-performance precision process fluid control equipment. This new line aims to improve the functionality of semiconductor production equipment.

Keuka Lake Association and Sutron Corporation Team With DSD Web Works

DSD Web Works has been contracted to work with Keuka Lake Association and Sutron Corporation on writing custom applications to interact directly with Sutron's new datalogger system. The application will take lake level and temperature data and, using statistical analysis, plot user friendly graphs and tables directly to the Keuka Lake Association website. The information will be available to all residence of the Keuka Lake watershed.

KWIC Requests New Reporting System - KWIC Manager

Keuka Watershed Improvement Cooperative (KWIC) contracts DSD Web Works to develop a new reporting system for the KWIC manager to update the KWIC board on inspection progress throughout the year. Utilizing existing data, DSD Web Works, will create automatic reports that will help visual and identify progress being made for the eight municipalities that participate in the cooperative.

DSD Web Works Completes New Bluff Point Association Website

Today DSD Web Works presented the new Bluff Point Association (BPA) website to the association's board. The previous site was built on the WordPress platform and was found to be awkward to manage. Therefore, a brand new custom built administrative backend was build that simplified the management of all site content. The new site is scheduled to be released in early January.

Keuka Lake Association Requests RFP for Site Redesign and Upgrade
